The idea of founding the Film Festival of Serbia came out from a need for a manifestation of a national significance, which would establish quality criteria as well as promote the acknowledged film authors and their works in the context of national Cinema.
The Film Festival of Serbia - which will be held for the first time this year form July 3rd to 8th - will present the complete production of domestic feature films, as well as selections of documentary, short and animated movies produced in Serbia. All this will be promoted through a new concept of Cinema City. The festival will, through cinematic and music content, live on the streets and squares of Novi Sad, thus transforming the city space into a specific festival arena.
The aim of FFS is to, through the promotion of national film industry, contribute to the building of a positive view of Serbia and also become one of the main developers of the overall creative industries in the country. Special attention will be given to creating an atmosphere of urban regeneration, which is so necessary for our cities in transition, with additional stress put on promotion and reinvention of the cinema culture in Serbia.
The Film Festival of Serbia is an event of general public significance, and as such is supported by the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Serbia, Executive Council of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and City Council of Novi Sad, as well numerous sponsors.
