Film Festival of Serbia has initiated the founding of a film fund intended for the support of film industries of countries which are positioned on the stream of the river Danube (Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldavia and Ukraine).

Danubius film fund is a specific platform for cooperation of the "Danube countries", and will consist of members of governments and state institutions from aforementioned countries. The Danubius fund is a logical continuation of previous fruitful collaborations of authors and producers from this region, with the intention of offering a new space and encouragement for collaborations of those film industries which have not had a chance to previously work together.

Based on this initiative, a series of meetings with the representatives of national and regional institutions and funds had been held. From Munich, via Linz to Vienna, the support of the future fund and models of cooperation have been discussed. During the series of meetings held over the course of Festival de Cannes, it has been decided that during the Film Festival of Serbia - on July 7th and 8th - initial meetings are to be held between the representatives of the film industries of Danube countries. FFS will thus become a key place where the most important topics related to the functioning and financing of the Danubius fund will be discussed, as well as the criteria for selection of the projects, decision-making procedures, inclusion of this fund in the already established systems of financing in the respective countries and the criteria for the selection of national representatives, as well as other issues closely related to the realization of this idea.

Besides Danubius fund, the first FFS will also host a small project market from the Danube countries, with the participation of representatives of national and regional film funds, editors of TV channels which are financing film, representatives of global and regional distributors, producers and representatives of European organizations - Media, Euroimages, Cineregio...

The movies which are in the phase of post-production, as well as finished but not yet presented works, will be shown at closed screenings. In that way, the producers and the authors will, over the course of the festival, be able to search for possible coproducers, financiers, distributors or festivals where they could show their work.

The national festival thus becomes the meeting point for collaboration of film professionals from all over the region. This initiative of Film Festival of Serbia opens a new space for cooperation, but also a new source of financial support for authors from Serbia and the region, also additionally improving the production in Serbia and the cooperation with the region.
